Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the art of inserting single-use, hair thin needles into specific points on the body to bring the body back into balance, regulating Qi and blood in the body. Qi is known as the vital force or energy within us, that flows through channels or pathways in the body. By placing needles in acupuncture points, it clears blockages and stagnations, while nourishing the body and organs. Acupuncture has countless benefits. By releasing endorphins and destressing the body, acupuncture improves circulation and calms the nervous system. Some patients find they are so relaxed on the table during treatment, that they fall asleep.

Acupuncture, which is part of Chinese Medicine, has been practiced for thousands of years, bringing relief and healing to many people, improving their quality of life. Acupuncture is an all natural process, with no side effects. Acupuncture works by balancing the Mind, Body and Soul. When you come for an acupuncture treatment, think of it as a mini vacation. You are doing something good for yourself. With the lights dimmed low, and relaxing music, you will feel calm and at ease.

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy which uses glass or plastic cups to create suction on the body, mostly on the back, to relax muscle, and soften tissue. It also promotes detoxification and works well for many respiratory disorders. Cupping does not hurt, it is actually very relaxing.

This is a method of stimulating acupuncture points by applying suction through a metal, wood or glass jar, in which a partial vacuum has been created. This technique produces blood congestion at the site, and therefore stimulates it.

Our acupuncturists  offer a variety of different Acupuncture styles based on patients' needs. The only FDA-approved and disposable needles are used. The needles are usually thin as hair and most patients do not feel any pain while inserting needles.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicines was used even before Acupuncture in ancient China, back to 3,500 years ago. Sometimes patients might need to combine acupuncture and herbal medicine therapy to expediate the effects of Eastern medicine to treat certain conditions. Up until a few decades, patiens or practitioners have cooked their own herbs at home using raw herbs, but recently modern technologies have developed to extract active ingredients of herbs and put into more convenient forms such as pills, powders, capsules or tinctures. Based on patient's current situation, these can be also prescribed.

The herbs sometimes might taste like earthy, bitter, but most of time, patients are able to handle slight bitterness to reach a healthy goal. Contact practitioner if the herbs are appropriate for you.

Cupping

Cupping is another modality in Eastern medicine to help patients with back and neck muslce aches & strains, migraines, and common colds by creating a negative pressure inside of cup to suck skin up toward the cup. This helps to relieve muscles layers, remove unnecessary or even toxic body fluids, and improve blood flow to those areas. Usually it is used for orthopedic patients to relieve the pain levels from muscles.  Recently some celebrities have used cupping and showed off their backs with cupping marks as it is a new trend, however, the cupping has been used in antient times and it is quite proven to be quite effective.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is one of the popular modality in which skin is scraped with a jade tool or a ceramic spoon with massage oil in order to get ride of toxin from the superficial skin layer. This promotes the improved circulation of blood and qi flow, especially in painful areas, by removing toxins called “Sha”. This treatment helps patients to feel relieved pains from the superficial skin layer and improved uneven skin tones when it is used on the face, back, and legs area. Gua Sha can leave a slightly reddish mark on the treated area, but this implies that Sha has been removed from the skin and also the mark disappears in a few days, as patients feel much better after the treatment.
